Natixis is the corporate, investment and financial services arm of Groupe BPCE, the 2nd largest banking player in France with 36 million customers spread over two networks, Banque Populaire and Caisse d’Epargne. Natixis was formed in 2006 through the combination of Natexis Banques Populaires and various subsidiaries of the Caisse d’Epargne Group. On December 15, 2008, Natixis revealed that it had lost more than US$450 million in the Madoff investment scandal on Wall Street - the largest Ponzi scheme in history.
